BCM638 - Grav-lift battle x2 with ten Marines

(7:37) Level 3 ('The Truth and Reconciliation') on Legendary. In my next pair of Legendary grav-lift battles with ten Marines, I start by trying out a new sniping perch up on a container, and for the second play I go on a plasma rampage, attacking the covies hard and fast with plasma weapons.

Released May 23rd 2026, gameplay recorded May 19th 2026.

Commentary

00:02 (Sniping on a container) What you see here is my first try at sniping from up on that container, unless maybe I tried it many years ago, which I certainly can't remember. I'm a bit late getting into position for dealing with the dropship troops, and when I get hit by a Jackal's plasma ball I decide to just get rid of them fast with a frag.

That was a bit rushed, but I'm still able to catch the first wave with a frag blast. Another frag blast takes out the Elite of wave 2, though the throw was a bit late and went a bit long.

There's an interesting bit around 2:38, when a Jackal in wave 7 comes down super-fast. You get anomalous descents like that sometimes. He immediately points, and I snipe him.

03:56 (Plasma rampage) This time, some nice fast work with plasma weapons, moving around freely and aggressively. A very enjoyable way to play.

There's a good phase of grenading around 5:48. A frag takes out most or all of wave 4 before they've touched down. Wave 5 comes down almost immediately, and a Grunt gets tagged. Then soon after, I do a good job with a plasma grenade on wave 6.

I accidentally blast Johnson with a plasma ball during this fight, just as I'm topping up my health, but he makes it through to the end.

Note: around 5:08 there's a nice close-up view of wave 2 reaching the platform, if you care to inspect that frame by frame. I just happened to be running onto the platform at the right time. In the background you can see the wave 1 Elite up the hill, fighting Marines.

Incidentally, for this battle I paused in the passage for about 12 seconds before advancing, so my cloaking wouldn't last so long. Didn't need it, for one thing.

Closing remarks Yet another pair of battles coming up next (I'm still playing catch-up with all the gameplay I've been doing), but then I'm thinking of putting out a new freakiness and fun movie as a brief interlude before continuing with the grav-lift carnage. We'll see.
