BCM630 - Rockslide megabattle, hit and run x2 with UNSC weapons
(6:08) Level 2 ('Halo') on Heroic. The 11-Marine squad in the previous set-up wasn't ideal for doing hit and run battles, as it was sometimes distracting covies or even killing them. But it was pretty easy to modify things. Here I've eliminated the squad and also equipped myself with a full sniper rifle. I face the same 33 covies though.

Commentary
00:02 (Play 1 - Sniper rifle & pistol) After an entry drive during which a surprising number of covies narrowly avoid being splattered, I dismount and get down to the main business, soon getting the sniper rile warmed up. By the time I head off to a new area, three of the seven Elites are dead.
A particularly nice section of play comes around 1:04. I snipe an inattentive blue Elite in the back, and then from the bottom of the slope I get a nice shooting angle back up towards the pursuing covies, killing two red Elites (one via plasma grenade) and a few other covies.
After that, the only Elite left is the dropship 4 guy, and when I come under pressure from Grunts and Jackals, I break off to go and find him. No trouble there. I subsequently head back to mop up what's left, but I get a bit too gung-ho near the end, starting to lose health fast. A quick plasma throw stops the final Jackal from firing though, allowing my health to stabilize at three bars.
03:04 (Play 2 - AR & pistol) I go for an AR this time, and get the fighting off to a good start when I take out two blue Elites coming through a narrow passage. It's great fun exploiting passages such as that.
Later on (after going on a long trip, skirting around the far end of the rockslide), there's some more good action in the same vicinity, namely around 4:53. I throw a hopeful plasma down to where some covies are emerging from the aforementioned passage, and score a slightly fortunate hit on a red Elite. Subsequently I anticipate a second Elite arriving, and it turns out to be another red. He gets drilled with the AR, then finished with a vicious whack. Then all of a sudden I'm under attack by a blue, who I hadn't been aware of. I only just avoid his swipe, but then manage to score a quick tag, which I was pleased with. A nice spell of play, all in all!
Before long I'm off looking for the dropship 4 Elite. And once again, I deliver a kill with a satisfying whack.
Closing remarks If you're wondering how I made the modification, it was quite easy. There was a nasty incident involving my Warthog, which eliminated the 11-Marine squad, and then I swapped my needler for the full sniper rifle which was one of the spare weapons on the ground. After that, it was simply a case of exiting and returning afresh, getting a new entry checkpoint.
Really enjoying this hit and run business! There's another instalment coming next, using another modification and plenty of needles!
