BCM626 - Rockslide megabattle, 12-man far area defence x3

(7:20) Level 2 ('Halo') on Heroic. After a bit of a hiatus, I thought I'd try to ease myself back into the movie business with some rockslide megabattling. And it's somehow been more than eight years since my last such movie, so I'd say it's about time for one! I'm using my favourite rockslide save yet again, featuring a squad of 11 Marines ready for doing some far area defence. Three rounds coming up, against the 34 vicious covies!

Released March 19th 2026, gameplay recorded March 16th-18th 2026.

Commentary

00:02 (Play 1 - Pistol & needler) In this first battle I go with the weapons I ride in with, namely a pistol and needler. Very nice combo. Johnson goes raging off early on and pays the price, but me and the boys win out in the end. A good aggressive start with a lot of bangs, including an explosive finale.

02:46 (Play 2 - Plasma combo) Now I use plasma weapons, one of my favourite ways of dishing out the pain. Just after I stun a red Elite around 4:10, my follow-up frag is bit off; a mistake. It's a snap throw and goes a bit high. taking longer to settle than I wanted, during which I'm in some peril. Elite gets killed anyway though. I think what happened was, he died from plasma blasts set off by the frag.

05:05 (Play 3 - Pistol plus chain-gun supoort) I don't often use chain-gun support in the far area defence as it makes things rather too easy, but for variation I go with it this time. Nice to see the shells cascading through the air, when I'm stationed close by! All eleven Marines survive.

Closing remarks One way I get back into some movie-making after falling out of the mood is to watch some of my existing movies, particularly the heavy combat ones. I was watching glasshouse battling for a while, but it was some rockslide action in the far area that finally got me to fire up the Xbox again and start recording. Didn't take long to get back up to speed, combat-wise.

With quite a few of my earlier rockslide movies using this save, I omitted some of the entry drives in order to squeeze three battles into less than seven minutes. But this time I've allowed myself to run a bit longer, to include all the drives. And as you see, I used three different route plans.

I might do a bit more rockslide megabattling next (I feel a little itchy to struggle through with an AR for example), but expect to get to some new topics thereafter.
