BCM255 - Freakiness and fun, assorted clips

(5:31) Various levels and difficulties. Here's my 18th 'freakiness and fun' compilation, showing 18 freaky or amusing incidents, most of which occurred while recording footage for my usual movies - so you may recognize some of the situations.

Released August 4th 2017, gameplay recorded 2013-2017.

Commentary

00:02 (Ghost lift) When I blast and ram a Ghost in the first ground battle, it goes airborne and then I manage to get a second contact, shunting it higher. Watching it head back to the snow, I remember hoping the pilot would be ejected, and then I'd end things nicely by blasting him. As it turns out, he's not ejected - but I blast him dead anyway. May 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM241. Level 5, Heroic.

00:27 (Ramped-up Grunt) Having floated down to the bridge from the upper ledge, I focus on an isolated Grunt, pursuing him to the lower deck. When I back up and take a good run at him, he dives and gets deflected up off a ramp, and off the bridge. Most amusing! July 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM250. Level 5, Easy.

00:45 (Night fright) This is the oldest clip in the movie, going back almost four years. Cloaked at the start of a dustbowl megabattle, I pause at a pair of Jackals who have their plasma pistols overcharging. They seem a little spooked, and they get a nasty surprise when my cloaking wears off. I drop a plasma grenade at their feet, then get clear and enjoy watching them get blasted off the cliff. September 2013 footage from when I was recording for BCM82. Level 3, Normal.

01:09 (Shunt snipe) Eyeing a red Elite on the other side of the cavern, I finish off a clip of needles, and it's just enough to kill him with a single bang. He drops three plasmas and I set them off with a frag. That gives the Hunter a shunt, and I neatly snipe him in his side. November 2016 footage from when I was recording for BCM206. Level 5, Heroic.

01:31 (Double scare) In my previous compilation BCM234 there's a clip 'Scary jump' in which my hog passenger screams. Well, this is the same situation but I get two screams out of him. Heading down the stream was unintended. The hog didn't rotate enough, and before I knew it I was in the water, so I improvised. At the end you can catch sight of the Marine squad we're heading for. August 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM157. Level 2, Legendary.

01:49 (Boomerang hog) This is an out-take from when I was trying to launch the hog up to the bridge - which took a lot of tries. On this try I'm way off target and the hog ends up amusingly returning via multiple bounces, almost to where it started. June 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM245. Level 5, Heroic.

02:13 (Iced Elites) Spiral path megabattle time! Things are looking pretty nasty along that cliff, and I make a scything attack to improve the odds. Multiple covies dive to try and get clear. Three Elites head down to the ice in a pretty tight group and I time a blast to roughly coincide with their arrival. Good effect! There was also a fourth Elite who went down to the ice, plus there was one who'd gone off the edge even before my scything attack. I think both of them are firing at me as I fly off. March 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM222. Level 5, Heroic.

02:31 (Bridge blunder) At the Maw bridge, my plasma grenade goes through the front of the left Banshee and tags the pilot, causing him to bail. I kill him with a satisfying mid-air rocket strike, but then the plasma goes off and detonates three he dropped - and it's goodbye cyborg. Oops! November 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM163. Level 10, Easy.

02:43 (Walking wounded) In this gameplay I'd got seven extra Marines. After killing the final Jackal I notice a Marine running into a tree, and as I close in, I'm amused to see that he looks like he's limping. Haven't seen that before! Of course, he's not really limping. Anyway, I fix him with a few rounds. Instant leg cure! May 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM241. Level 5, Heroic.

03:01 (Stackered) Just as I'm mopping up what looks like the last of the covies in this rockslide megabattle, Stacker throws a frag, and I guess I was too wound up in the heat of the moment to register his cry. When I realize there's a frag landing near me, I'm heading to pick up a plasma grenade, and immediately I think "Uh-oh", or something like that. And sure enough, the plasma gets detonated and kills me. Stacker's apology comes a little late, since I'm dead by then! May 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM237. Level 2, Heroic.

03:18 (Blind tag) Cavern megabattle, bridge assault. After killing a few Grunts to eliminate the threat on the left, I throw a frag to bounce off a pipe and hopefully land among the enemy on that side. Enemy which I can't yet see. As it turns out, there's only a Jackal left - and my frag gets him nicely. May 2016 footage from when I was recording for BCM181. Level 5, Normal.

03:32 (Odd one out) Remember my 'Giant plasma' clip in BCM218? This is another clip of that same situation, which you can now see properly. One of the grenades is definitely odd out, wouldn't you say? January 2017 footage from when doing a kill 'em all run. Level 5, Legendary.

03:46 (Teleporting Jackal) When I fire my plasma pistol to shock some external covies, a Jackal apparently gets bumped (suddenly moved) into the boarding room. A long way! He comes through the door and I bash him on the head. July 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM152 Level 3, Normal.

04:01 (Hot welcome) When the Pelican comes down to drop off Marines, I have some fun tagging Johnson (who after the first bang starts to say "We could use your help, sir"). But I get too close to dropped frags! February 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM220. Level 5, Heroic.

04:15 (Fragged camera) When I attempt a Shade ride with a frag, the camera freakishly shoots away before closing back in on me. I've done that descent method loads of times but I think this is the only time I had this camera quirk. It looks a bit like the camera gets momentarily blasted away by the frag - though I'm sure that's not what happened. Curious. May 2016 footage from when I was recording for BCM180. Level 5, Heroic.

04:25 (Dropship hustle) At the start of this spiral path megabattle I try to fly up through the dropship's fork, but the Banshee gets caught up and hustled along. Makes for a bit of fun though, and I blast a diving Jackal as the Banshee gets free. February 2017 footage, about two weeks before doing BCM222. Level 5, Heroic.

04:42 (Stand well back) Having some fun with goldie fireworks, I get killed in a 6-plasma cascade. As you may recall, there were a couple of similar mishaps in BCM234. January 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM213. Level 4, Easy.

04:54 (Zombie trio) I forget the context of this gameplay, but I'd bypassed covies and gone over the loading point past the cavern, then headed back. Three Elites have lost their AI (I might do a movie on that theme sometime) and are now just mindlessly trying to head in a particular direction - which is taking them into a wall. I end their troubles with a plasma. January 2017 footage. Level 5, Normal.

Closing remarks I haven't finished with entry chamber movies yet, but now that I've covered the biggest topics I wanted to cover regarding force-launching from the bottom, I thought I'd switch to some other movies for a while. I was able to put together this new 'freakiness and fun' compilation pretty easily. Mind you, I'm running a bit low on clips for levels other than AOTCR, so I could definitely do with some more of those before my next compilation!
